Patrice D. Bowman is an award-winning director and a colorist. She graduated with a B.A. in Film Studies from Yale University in 2015 and lives in New York City.

As a writer/director, her work focuses on the mental and spiritual lives of women of color -- particularly, of Black women. Her short films have screened nationwide at many festivals, including the Academy Award-qualifying Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series, Roxbury International Festival, and Micheaux Film Festival, amongst others. Her work has been supported by the PANO Microgrant. She was a 2023 artist-in-residence at the Ucross Foundation. She is also a Stowe Story Labs alumna.

As a colorist, she works with independent storytellers and major creative agencies. Dedicated to making the art of color more accessible, she conducts color grading workshops at various universities and festivals –– both virtually and in-person.

She is excited to work on her first feature-length film: Father's Shadow.

“Patrice jumped onto an incredibly tight deadline (less than one week turnaround) for a documentary short that I was producing ["America Heard: Refuge of Hope"]. With just one conversation she was able to integrate into our team seamlessly, despite the fact that our team was flung across several cities. Because of her flexibility, clear communication (on phone, e-mail, chat — whatever was required), and ability to deliver color correction on time, our story went from rough around the edges to polished and evocative in its look and feel. It was easy and satisfying to work with Patrice on a story that truly mattered!”

"“Patrice is a joy to work with. She brings a sharp, creative eye to her projects, and her swift turn around means you will never miss a deadline. Highly recommend!”

"I had the pleasure of collaborating with Patrice for two of my short films ['Cherry Lemonade' and 'Brownies']. Working with her was an amazing experience as she truly understood the themes and emotions that I wanted to convey through the use of color. Her raw talent in creating the desired effects of color is truly admirable. Without her touch, I don't think my films would have turned out as great as they did. Patrice's work is exceptional, and I am already looking forward to working with her again in the future."
